Any pumping horror stories

I pump in an office that is rarely used , it is in the back of our office but it's in the front of the building with 2 big windows so I keep the blinds closed. Well I get all my pumping crap all set up and I sit down, hook up and then realize that the blinds are open and I can see someone outside, ie they could see me too but luckily they were walking in the opposite direction. Glad I looked up and noticed they were open :)

then there was the time that i HAD to pump in the car with my mom, step-dad, sister and her boyfriend oh and DD. It was kinda humiliating but 1. I was about to explode and 2. I needed milk to leave for DD.

I sware when I pump in front of DD she gives me the stink eye as if to say "hey what are you doing, that's MY milky" then I tell her that it is for her and then she glares at me again "well let me have it then, I don't want it in a baba"

  • When Ben & Kate had RSV (they were about 3 weeks old) we were in the hospital and I was laying in the parent bed and dh was watching TV in the chair and the breathing therapist walked in (very tall and strong man) and he said hello we both said hello and then his faced turned 20 shades and red and he started babbling and walked out.  Dh and I looked at each other puzzled and another breathing therapist came in (woman) and she said that he was sorry for barging in and should have knocked since I was pumping.  Dh and I didn't even realize why he was embarassed bc pumping had become so normal for us.

  • DS would not nurse, so I had to pump all the breast milk that he got. I had to pump one day infront of my mother in law, because she would not leave my house!! I had a hospital grade pump, and it was in the living room, so I could pump and watch the baby in his swing....so mother in law didn't get the hint and got an eye full....
  • I was pumping in my office and my student got security to open the door for her...I don't know WHAT she was thinking, she knows I pump in there! ?I yelled, "Stay OUT!!! Stay OUT!!!" and I think I scared the crap out of her.

When I was pumping with DS, my work didn't have very good nursing mothers rooms.  The room that I used was the lounge area in one of the ladies rooms in my building.  It was nice because it was comfortable but bad because there was absolutely no privacy.

Since it was a bathroom we couldn't lock the door, and even if the in use sign was up people would still come in.  I got pretty good about making sure I was covered but every day there was one security guard that would come in and eat lunch or take a nap while I was pumping.  She saw more of me than I would like her to have seen.  But I suppose the advantage to that is she knows who I am now whenever she sees me.  Even three years later.  LOL
