WW & eating out on special occasions

Friday is our 5 year anniversary, and we are planning to go to our favorite Mexican restaurant. I pulled up the nutritional values on their website, and one of the dishes I love has 970 calories and 51grams of fat!!! That's 23 points! So my question is this... should I just save all of my weekly points, eat whatever and not worry about it, or should I actually try to count it up and limit if it goes over my weekly points? WWYD?

Re: WW & eating out on special occasions

  • When I did WW I always saved all my weekly points for the weekends since we went out to dinner a lot and then I didn't need to stress about it. I still always lost weight every week doing that.

  • In that situation I usually save as many weekly pts as possible and plan ahead what I am going to order....If I end up going over those by a little I don't flip out (it's a speciall occasion!)... but I'd stick to daily pts the rest of the week or maybe a pt or two under to compensate (theoretically)....

also, remember, you don't have to eat the whole dish...one trick I've used is to ask them for a to-go box when they bring you your food...put half of your meal in the box and eat the other half...

did the rest. list fiber? b/c that will decrease pts a little...

  • Our anniversary is coming at the end of the month (5 years too!).  Congratulations!

For me, I think we are going to Red Lobster.  I know that they have some healthy choices, but I will probably exercise more that week and save my WP's for that night.  I am not going to worry about it on that night.  GL!  and have fun!

  • Will you really eat the entire meal?  I usually can never finish all of my food at restaurants, and if you only eat half, that is half the points; right?

I don't know.  I've never done ww, but it sound good to me! Smile

  • It's a special occasion.  Just count it as your 35pts and don't worry about it.  I'd limit myself to one margarita though..
