Formula FAIL

We tried formula for the first time last night...did a dreamfeed at 10 p.m. with 4 oz breastmilk and 2 oz formula mixed together.  Kiran sucked it down fine, but then was up every two hours crying all night long.  I think it gave him gas.  So much for formula helping him sleep better!  Not sure what we're going to do now.

  • What did you use? Enfamil made DD spit up every time. Similac seems to be ok though.

Also, try Mylicon right after the bottle. Or if he falls asleep while eating maybe mix it in the bottle?

  • Try a different kind of formula. DD was supplemented until my milk came in and she had way more spit-ups/issues with similac than with infamil.
  • We've done okay with Similac Sensitive, but everything else really bothers DD's tummy...
  • Definitely try Gentlease or Sensitive depending on what brand you choose. Maybe the regular was too hard for his tummy! Poor thing! But I agree, FF does nothing for STTN! When DD switched it didnt change a thing with her sleep! GL!
  • We had to change from Regular Similac to Sensitive.  So far she is doing much better.  I haven't had to give her any Mylicon in almost 2 weeks.

  • From what I hear, it just takes a little while for their tummies to adjust to the formula.  It's not nearly as natural as BM.  Stick it out, it will get better!! I know that is easier said than done in the middle of the night!
