A few questions about helmets...

I'm starting to think that my boys need helmets.  Their heads are flat like rulers in the back and I'm afraid it's not getting any better.  When they are awake, they are never on their backs.  I was hoping this would help correct their head shape, but I don't think it's getting ANY better.  For those of you who's LO wear helmets:  how many hours a day do they wear them?  How many months do they need them?

 Any input would be great!

Re: A few questions about helmets...

  • My boys dont have helmets yet, but we just started the process of possibly getting one for my son Carter.  We met with the plastic surgeon on Monday and we were told that they wear the helmets 23 hours a day.  Usually they wear them for 3 or 4 months, but it also depends on when you get the helmet.  I guess the head growth slows around 8 or 9 months so if you get the helmet after 8 or 9 months of age they may have to wear it longer but only b/c the head is not growing as fast.
  • Can't help out here, but just stopping in to see how your boys are doing since they share a birthday with my girls. Can you believe it is almost 7 months? Hope you are well. They are so adorable!
