Parenting after a Loss

Thrush :(

Annie and I both have very mild cases of thrush.  We saw the pedi yesterday and he painted her mouth purple and said that was all of the treatment she needed.  My nips looked a little shiny to the LC so I wanted to treat myself too.  I'm going to apply lotramin 2xs a day for 7 days.  That's what LLL suggested and I think I'm going to also take some acidophilus.  If you've had it, was that enough to clear it up?  Did you take any other precautions?

Re: Thrush :(

  • When we had it, the ped put DS on nystatin and the OB and LCs office recommended gentian violet (probably the stuff they used on your LO's mouth) applied in between feedings until DS's course of the med was up. That helped us! I'd be surprised if one treatment for your LO cured it though, yeast can be hard to kill. www.breastfeedingonline.com has some good info from Jack Newman that my LC recommended when we had this.
  • Hope you both get better soon.

EC and I had a mild case also.  My ob gave me diflucan (sp?) pills and my pedi gave us nystatin.  And its pretty much cleared up.  I also steamed her paci and the nipples from her bottles just in case.  And I bought a new puff for the shower.
