For me, my favorite "toy" was my bike! I loved riding outside, mom didn't like me riding in her grass though. On rainy days, I loved board games. DH's favorite toys were his ninja turtles and his legos.
Our swingset, sandbox, and trampoline were our favorite "toys."
We loved being outside!
ETA: I don't have kiddos yet, but my favorite toys to give as gifts are anything from the Melissa & Doug line. I think they make the most amazing toys that remind me of my childhood. I gave my 3 year old nephew a wooden toolbox with oversized wooden screws and nails and a wooden hammer and screwdriver and he LOVES it.
Which toy wasn't my favorite???? Lincoln Logs, train sets, lots of Barbies, Transformers, my bright yellow 10-speed bike with baskets over the rear wheel. . .
I'm an only child. I loved my toys - they kept me company when my friends weren't around. And don't even get me started on my books!
2 years TTC with 5 losses, 1 year recovering, 6 months applying for adoption approval, and almost a year waiting for a placement. Then, a miracle BFP at age 36!
I know legos get all the love (quite deservedly) but I wish more people discovered blocks and marbles. They ROCK. and they're well built to always be ratios of e/o--lots of math skills and pattern recognition that's subconsciously seeping into little brains.

I am sooo jealous, Dr. L. I yearned for a Barbie head but I never had one. I thought they were soooo cool!!
My favorite young childhood toy was a wooden train set. Loved it!
I loved my Barbie head, too!
Also my big wheel, Easy Bake Oven and Shrinky Dinks!

my Strawberry Shortcake dolls!
My sisters and i would play for hours with them. My mother still has them, so i can't wait to use them with my children one day!
We did love our swingset and our clubhouse my dad built for us too. We got pretty creative with what we would play there.
