Parenting after a Loss

so upset! I had to dump 22oz of BM this am. :o(

I made a stupid mistake b/c I was  out of routine and freaking forgot to put yesterday's milk into the fridge when i got home from work.  I left it in my lunch bag all night.

worst part....my H.  no dh today!  he was such an assshole about the whole thing.  telling me that I am over-reacting and shouldn't be crying and that it's no big deal.  He totally doesn't get how hard it is for me to pump 3x a day while at work, to build up a stash ( that is now probably gone) and how I stress all the time if I have enough milk for Jacob.  All I wanted was some sympathy.  booohooo.

  • Oh no! That stinks. Sorry that you had to throw it away. My husband doesn't understand how stressful it can be either. {{hugs}}

    You have my sympathy! I'm sad when I dump a measly 2 oz. I can't imagine 22 :( Mr. doesn't get that it's a PITA to pump either. It's not like turning on a garden hose... each drop is hard earned.
  • did it smell bad?  BM can stay out for like 10 hours without spoiling.

    That totally sucks though :(

  • You definitely deserve a hug and a little sympathy... that totally stinks!  I would feel upset if I left 22 oz of DD's formula in my bag and all I have to do is mix that up in the kitchen!  Yes, it's expensive, but nowhere near as inconvient as having to pump 3x a day.  I'm so sorry:(
  • Oh I am sooooo sorry that hurts so badly.  Dh's don't get how hard we work for our milk.
  • I am so sorry! That totally sucks..

  • i am totally crying for you.  i'm also insanely jealous that you manage to pump 22 oz.
  • That stinks!  I remember how valuable breast milk is and how I would get mad at DH if he would waste any of it!
  • I never thought much of the expression "don't cry over spilt milk" until I started pumping my own....I have DEFINITELY cried over spilt milk!!

    I'm so sorry you had to toss it all...we had a *very* close call when we moved bc I sent my entire stash of BM up with DH - who drove - on ice. ?It mean, it was 3 MONTHS worth of pumping. ?AND HE FORGOT AND LEFT IT IN THE CAR FOR 2 DAYS. ?When I arrived I asked where my milk was and he went white. ?Luckily the ice packs held up and while it was partially thawed, I smelled it and it was all ok, but I nearly murdered DH before I found out it was ok...and if I had had to throw it all away, I might just have maimed him after all.
