Iron is about the only nutritional benefit the cereal has, but iron can be found in LOTS of different foods (sweet potatoes, winter squash, broccoli). It is something to pay attention to, but my dr isn't as concerned with her iron intake until she's 7 months old (when the requirements get much higher). The iron in the cereal is not very well absorbed at all, so it's best to give it with foods that are rich in Vitamin C. I don't know if we'll skip oatmeal (which can also be iron fortified), but I think we're gonna wait until we have at least a couple of foods introduced first to mix it with because BF babies have a serious sweet tooth after all that sweet human milk!
