XP: Question for co-sleepers re:naps

Where do your LOs sleep during the day?

We're transitioning DS into sleeping in bed during the day for naps. He sleeps in the swing for his first nap, in the swing or bed for his second nap, bed for his third and usually my arms or the wrap for his last 1-2 naps (falls asleep feeding or when we go out for walks.

I'm not sure if I need to try and get him to sleep in bed for all naps but don't know what to do when he starts to roll over/become more mobile. Also, he just woke up from a nap on the bed, was still tired so I tried to give him time to fall back asleep but he wouldn't. So I picked hi up, nursed hi and he fell back aslee in my arms.

While I love having him in my arms, I have to go back to work on Monday and DH will be watching him all day. How can I get him to take longer naps in bed? Should I have him use the crib for naps? Stick with the swing? Sorry for all of the questions... I'm starting to feel anxious (and very sad) about going back to work if only part time.

  • At your LOs age, we let Emma nap where ever.  We did not full time co sleep at the time but did a lot.  We are now just starting to get her to use her crib.  GL!

I came back to work last week.  I was in the same situation... DD would nap in my arms, on the couch with me, the bouncy seat.  DH is home with her now during the day and she mostly, if not always, naps in the swing.  I wish DH would try the basinet or crib... but doubt it.

  • Allison takes all naps in the swing or in bed with me or DH (and we get a nap, too!).  That way she's right in the living room with us and she can't really roll out of the swing!
  • I think it was somewhere around 4 months when I started putting her down for naps in the crib.  Unless she's not feeling good or something like that, or when we're out for a walk & I'm wearing her, that's where she naps.
