Parenting after a Loss

Brought dd to the pedi.... :(

And now I feel even worse. I took dd to the playground & noticed that she had some funky stuff on her ears. So I called the pedi. I brought her right in & he said she has a virus. Her ears did what they're supposed to.?

She has some bad congestion in her nose and the pressure & fluid built up in her ears. Her ears released the pressure and the fluid causing the fluid to come out of her ears the way it's supposed to. He said that's what I want to happen. 99% of babies don't have their ears do that & that's why ear infections are so common.?

So now I feel even worse for not having enough patience to realize she was sick and that's why she was sleeping so terribly. ?

He also said to expect some teeth shortly. ?

  • Aww, don't feel bad. There is always so much going on with these kiddos and it's impossible to discern between fussiness and a real issue. You're either overreacting or underreacting, you know?

Hugs. Hope M feels better soon.

  • Poor girl, don't feel bad though it is so hard to figure out why they do the things they do.  Now you know and just give her some extra love.
  • Poor Meredith! Dont beat yourself up! It is so hard to figure out what is going on with them.  Give yourself credit for going to the pedi in the first place.  I hope she is feeling better soon.

Oh and I read your earlier post, but could not respond at work.  You are a FABULOUS mom...dont ever doubt yourself.

  • It is so hard to tell sometimes- dont feel bad.  I hope your DD feels better soon!

  • You are doing what you can. And poor baby. I hope she feels better soon. One day DD just started crying out of the blue. One minute playing happily and then next just irritated at something & I could not figure it out. Finally I checked her diaper and all it took was to get the poopy diaper off to have my happy baby back!
  • You are doing a great job.  If it makes you feel better, K was screaming at me and pulling my hair the other day.  I didn't know what was wrong, and nothing I did was working.  So I laid him on the ground and screamed (mostly "I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT.)

Turns out he had a poopy diaper.  What kind of mom doesn't know their kid has a poopy diaper (and doesn't check) and then yells at their kid because of it?

  • :( ?Don't beat yourself up...now you know and she'll be better soon.

  • Sometimes it's hard to know if anything's wrong until they're snotting all over the place, feverish, or have crud coming out of some random orifice (it wouldn't come out DD's ears, it'd come out of her eyes--we always thought she had an eye infection).

Big hugs!  You did the right thing and she's getting better.
