Parenting after a Loss

When did you introduce meats?

Our pedi said to start to introduce meats after we cycled through all the fruits and veggies.  So this weekend I spent half a day pureeing chicken combos.  But I just read on wholesomebabyfood.com not to introduce meats until 8 months?? Strange that our pedi was ok with it this early.

So just wondering when you introduced meats?

  • We did chicken at 8.5 months. Then turkey close to 9 months. I've only done these two in the form of jar food and he isn't much of a fan. Gotta give him some of my own but I'm not sure just how to do that. And just last week we introduced ground beef and he loved it! More than anything else. It was pieces from a hamburger patty when we were grilling.

  • We just did this week.  Our pediatrician gave the OK at 9 months.
  • our pedi gave the ok at 9mo, but she also knows I'm wanting to raise dd as a vegetarian (well, a selective ovo-pescetarian as I am). DD has had fish - which I think I introduced to her around 10mos.   I'm pretty picky about what I give DD and have to watch closely with relatives so they don't "slip" dd something I don't approve of.

Ok - definitely sounds like we need to wait a little bit.  I guess it was a good thing that I froze everything! lol

  • We waited until he started finger foods. I just couldn't bring myself to do meat purees. He might have tried a few of the Earth's Best combos, but that's it....probably around 9-10 months. They don't need meat, they can get protein from other sources.
  • K eats meat in the Earth's best combos.  I am probably going to introduce chunkier meat soon, but he also has six teeth.
  • Our pedi gave us the green light at their 6 month appointment but I am waiting until they can eat it with their fingers and not have it pureered so I don't gag and throw up.
