Spotting??

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has experienced light spotting in their twin pregnancy? I am 13.5 weeks along and woke up with some brownish spotting yesterday. I was told to rest and today it has been much lighter and less frequent. I had a scan at 13 weeks and both were totally healthy with strong heartbeats. I am just nervous as I haven't had spotting before and am hoping this isn't too uncommon. I go tomorrow to see if I need another scan done. Any advice or stories you can share are appreciated. Thanks!!

Re: Spotting??

  • I've had spotting and bleeding three times in this pregnancy. ?I was diagnosed with Placenta Previa. ?The Dr. just tells me to go on bed rest for 4 days after each spotting. ?My Dr. did mention that multiples spotting is fairly common because of all the pressure happening down there. ?Just take it easy and you'll be in my thoughts and prayers!

  • i spotted at 13w with the twins (never spotted with my DS).

the doc had me come in for an US and checked my cervix- all was fine. She said it was likely from some little pimple like bumps on the outside of the cervix that can bleed.  It lasted maybe 2 days and was gone.

  • I had about 5 different bleeding episodes in my pregnancy. Just take it easy, keep your feet up, drink lots of water and try not to stress. I know it can be so scary each time. But everything turned out to be fine for me.
  • I spotted at 8 weeks.  If you've had intercourse recently, that could've caused it.
  • i have spotted 3 times. first time was blood red and it was a vaginal infection, second was pinkish and it is still a mystery, third was blood red and was actually coming from my urethra and was a bladder infection (imagine that). anyhow, it is common, but ALWAYS call your doctor and they will usually send you to the hospital or their office to get checked out. it could be a whole bunch of minor things that aren't a big deal as long as they dont go untreated. yeah, i agree, dont freak out, but do call your doctor and get checked out. sex can cause light/minor spotting, too. also, if you have had a pap test or any invasive test like that, you can have spotting for 24 hours after.
  • Thanks so much for sharing all of your stories! You guys really helped ease my worries. Just got back from the doctor (not my peri) and she said no need for an emergency scan since the spotting has tapered off and to just gradually resume activities. I feel so relieved!! I am actually living in the UK for 6 months, so it's been a real ordeal figuring out their health care system as I am so used to just being able to just go into my dr. like I did in the States!!! Hope all of you are doing well and thanks again for listening!
