Pregnancy ruined my eyes.

I had lasik about 6 years ago.  While pregnant with Maren I noticed my eyes were getting worse and worse.  My OB told me to wait until I was no longer pregnant to get them checked b/c they will change again.  They haven't changed so far.  It's bad though.  I have to squint to see things at a distance and forget it at night.  I need glasses/contacts again.  Crying

Anyone else experience this?  How much longer should I wait before going to the eye doctor.

  • Mine have definitely changed.  Optometrist told me not to consider Lasik until I was done having kids.

  • My eyesight got worse with both Nora and Miles but got better again (or at least better to what it was since I'm blind anyway) after I gave birth. I would wait a little bit longer but see an eye doctor if it doesn't correct itself soon.

  • Well, lately I have noticed that my eye sight has definitely gotten worse.  I need to go an eye appt soon.  i definitely notice a horrible difference lately.  I used to run on the treadmill with my contacts and see the clock fine.  Now I run on the treadmill with my contacts and have to strain to see the clock.  Not good.  Now I will blame it on the pregnancy- I didn't know!

That would have been helpful advice 6 years ago.  I am so mad I didn't know to wait.  I wore glasses (then contacts) since I was in 1st grade.  I won't be able to afford getting it again anytime soon.

  • I went to having to wear glasses for reading to not needing them for reading at all and now need them for driving. pregnancy does weird things to your body!
  • Are you nearsighted or farsighted? We get more farsighted as we age, so if you're nearsighted now, it may correct itself later.

  • I have/had perfect vision and I noticed shortly after dd was born it was worse.  I couldn't see things as well far away.  I thought it was from the strain on my eyes from constantly looking at dd up close when I was nursing her as a newborn and checking constantly to make sure I was doing it right.  It corrected itself eventually and now I am back to normal.  Strange.
