Losing a pet

Anyone have any good suggestions to help with the grief that comes with losing a pet? 

This sucks.  I lost my horse unexpectedly yesterday morning and anytime anything reminds me of her, I start crying.  What is really bad is not only was she my pet, but she was also my main hobby.  I spent most of my free time with her.

I really looked forward to my future kids being able to learn to ride on her.  

I think mostly I would like to stop spontaneously crying.

I wish I had advice, but I think that losing a pet is often just as hard as losing a family member.  I would be upset as well.

I don't really have any great advice, except just let yourself feel whatever it is that you need to.  It is probably going to take time, but hopefully it will start to get a little easier.  I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry, i have no good advice. When my dog died I would randomly cry for a very long time just hang in there, you'll get better with time.

The advice that I would give is that no matter what cry when you need to. As I have lost pets (dear hamsters and 2 Guinea Pigs) I still get upset when I look at pictures. Don't blame your self for the Could of Would of Should of moments in their life. The animal loved you dearly and knows that you gave them the best care you can give them. Don't rush out and buy another horse just to be a filler. you need time to let it all out and to clean up the stable.

I'm sorry. No good advice. Give yourself time. Maybe dedicate something to her memory plant something, get something to put outside to remind you of the good times you had with her? I lost several baby bunnies I was trying to save from neglect and I put a ceramic baby bunny somewhere I could go to think about them.

I don't have any advice for you but I am so very sorry for your loss. DH and I have a dog we got when we first got married. He is our baby, I would be devastated if we lost him.
