"But Nana said brothers and sisters are more fun!"

Awesome.  This is what Brendan came home with today from my MIL's house.  We are one and done (REALLY--Dave is snipped, but only we know it), and lately he keeps talking about wanting a brother/sister.  He was really adamant about it today, so I really discussed it with him and told him that God gave us him and we are so happy with our family and we love him . . . on and on.  He finally said to me, "Mommy, but Nana said brothers and sisters are more fun!"

Great, thanks MIL, for putting impossible ideas into my kid's head.  Argh!

  • I'd say it's time to let the cat out of the bag about the snip snip. Make her feel bad.

  • Sorry, but if grandma doesn't know about the snip, I can't blame her too much for talking about him getting a sibling.  Every grandma I've ever met can't wait to get more grandchildren!

  • Oh she knows we're one and done, she just doesn't know we've made it official.  We've said since he was born that he was it . . . she's in denial!  When we mentioned getting the ole snip, she FLIPPED and said she never wanted to hear another word about it, so we obliged.  She's a peach! Wink
  • WTF is with MILs?! ?How unfair for her to put ideas into your little one's mind that you have no way or desire to fulfill?! ?That's just mean. ?I understand the idea that if she doesn't *know* about the snip-snip, then it's hard to hold her too responsible, but if you've been telling her that you have no intention of having another child, she really has no right to be saying anything to your kid about having brothers and sisters. ?That's just mean.
