WDYT of this name for a little boy? My hubby and I have been thinking about it from day one...ever since we found out I was pregnant with DD...now we are thinking about the next one, and this name is still hanging in there..?
Technically only Mikaya and Makiyah is the pronunciation I think you are going for, but the rest are similar if you are interested. Personally, I don't mind it for a boy, though it is very feminine it's still not a horrible boy's name. Though I'd go for the Makiyah spelling myself. But I like Makiah for a boy better than Mikaya (and -aya seems feminine to me).
I know a family with the last name Makaya (pronounced Muh-ky-uh, long i sound in the middle). It is a common African family name.
It is also the name of a Haitian religion that teaches voodoo/magic. Not sure if you were aware of that, but here's a link about it just so you are aware.
Re: Makiah??
At first glance it looks like a very feminine name - Mariah, Michaela, etc.
How do you pronounce it?
And sorry, its just NMS.
is it pronounced "muh-kai-uh"? if so, then it sounds feminine to me.
what about mekhi - sounds like "muh-kai" i like this better and it sounds more masculine.
the "kai" part sounds like k + the word "eye".

Errr, nms.
Is this an actual name?
The Duggar family's youngest daughter's middle name. Only they spelled it Makiya. I've also seen it spelled Makaya (for a girl).
However, babycenter.com says it can also be a boys name. Spellings they used:
Boys: Makya, Makye, Makyah, Makyi, Mckye, Mikaya, Mikye, Makiyah, M'Kyah, Mekya, Mekhye
