BF'ing: When does the leaking get better?

I have gone through at least 100 breast pads in the last 2 weeks. It seems like I am constantly leaking. Please tell me it gets better and how does it get better. I feel like the amount of waste I am creating with these pads is out of control (and I easily leak through washables). My boobs just have a mind of their own.

  • hmm I don't know, I never leaked that much and don't even wear the breatpads anymore

good luck I can only imagine how annoying that is

  • i still leak.. but i usually only wear one pair of breast pads per day. I certainly don't change them everytime I leak. Why do you need to change them so often?

I change them each time they get too full. I have a really strong let down so when she is eating on one side the other side starts flowing. Who knows. Maybe I am changing them too often.

  • if you are just leaking when she's eating, have you thought of putting a burp cloth up to the other side to catch the leaking? that's what i did. i wore wore nursing pads for about the first 5mo. i didn't need them that long necessarily but i was scared to death of leaking at work and wasn't brave enough to try going without. i usually just leak when i'm feeding him so covering the other side will catch the milk. if you are leaking that much i'd say you are doing the right thing changing them often. if they get too wet and just sit there you can grow yeast and get thrush.
  • It takes some time, but your supply should regulate around 6 weeks I think and you won't leak nearly as much. ?I leaked CONSTANTLY in the beginning too and it was so annoying.

I haven't worn nursing pads in MONTHS now, (unless Ethan was dropping a night time feeding and I knew I would be engorged).

It *will* get better. ?In the meantime, keep wearing those pads!

I don't leak all that much but I noticed if I do and I take a burp cloth and put some pressure on my breast the leaking stops.

I don't really wear pads anymore - I've stopped in the last week.
