When did you start to cut back on nursing/bottles? I'm just not sure how we progress from 2 solid meals a day with the same nursing schedule - to the solids taking the place of nursing. Any help would be appreciated! Here is our current schedule:
7am - nurse
9am - solids (typically fruit)
9:30am - bottle
noon - nurse
3:30 - bottle
6pm - solids (cereal and 2 veggies)
7:30pm - nurse & bedtime
Re: BFing Moms with LO 6months+
The gi dr told me yesterday that I could cut out 1 nursing a day at this point, as long as she was eating her solids well.?
I'm not cutting out any nursings at this point because she's not eating her solids well and she's still "asking" for the boob. She actually grabs one & roots around.
HTH ?
Honestly, I haven't actually dropped any sessions really. But since he is now eating 3 meals a day, he tends to not nurse as long except first thing in the morning and right before bed.
Our day goes something like this-
6:00- nurse
8:00- breakfast- cereal, fruit, top off with bm
10:00- nurse- this is usually a quick little snack
12:00- lunch- veggie, finger foods, any new foods, top off
3:00- nurse
5:30- dinner- meats, veggie, finger foods
7:15- nurse
I guess the way I look at it is 1) the boy is in the 10th percentile for weight- he can use all the calories he can get, 2) we drink with our meals so why shouldn't he?
It is more often than the little guidelines from the pedi, but it works for us. And, that way I know he's full before his naps!
we completely suck and haven't been able to master getting an extra meal added - Avery refuses to eat in the mornings - but I'm going to try again tomorrow.
Normally our schedule is
6:30 - Nurse
9 - bottle
12 - nurse
3 - bottle
5 - solids
5:30-6 - Nurse
7:30 - Nurse
