If you've met/are going to meet a Nestie

What does your friends/family/DH think of it?

My DH doesn't really care as long as its a big public place, but the rest of my friends and family think I'm weird... they said "you don't know who your meeting!" Um. Yeah, hello-- that's the whole point to meeting new people!! DUH!

Re: If you've met/are going to meet a Nestie

  • My DH thought I was insane but he thought THEY (viva) was more insane for driving a million hours! lol

  • As long as it's a public place I don't think anyone cares. It's not much different than going to a class and meeting new people there. There are crazies everywhere!

  • Well that's public knowledge X-- we all know Viva is insane!! Stick out tongue
  • The first nestie I met was at my house.

The second & third nestie that I have met have been in public places, but have since hung out at my house too.

Dh and my family don't really think it's a big deal at all. We have become very good friends with some nesties.

  • I try not to talk to too many family/friends about getting together with people I "meet' online because I always seem to get a lecture about being careful and it annoys me.

It's kind of funny to me, since DH and I met online.  So, obviously while he and I know there is some element of danger if you aren't careful, we also know how wonderful it can turn out to be.

  • My H does think it's a bit weird, but he doesn't say much these days because I've made some really awesome friends through the nest.

I figure I know more about these girls than I do about women I'd meet through playdates or something because I've gotten to *know* them through their posts for months or years.

  • I've met Nesties at my house and in public places.  DH and family don't think it is weird.  They think it is weirder that I consider some of the people I haven't met IRL my friends.  :)

    .
  • I've made a ton of internet friends who I've ended up meeting in person.  I'm a very trusting person. . . maybe that will be my downfall, but I've had such good experiences that it's hard to change my mindset.

I even let someone that I'd only met on the knot babysit DD while I was at a wedding across the country.  Of course, I went early to meet with her to make sure we were all comfortable with the situation and stopped in to nurse her and check up on things, but it was fine.

  • I've met 2 nesties.  The first time was at a public place and then I met with another at her house.  DH is okay with it as long as our initial meeting is in public.  He also came with me when I went to her house.

  • i am having my first nestie get together at the end of May and dh/family don't think it is weird.
  • Viva tried explaining to a friend of mine how we met, that was pretty funny.

First time (for me), XBrooklyn, Viva, Sweetie and I went to a circus with the kids. Second time I managed to invite myself over to viva's house..... ? and then third time (for me) they all came over to Ethan's bday party.

I have not met anyone else, but some people have my name/address and welcome to come over any time they're in the neighborhood (hint hint Kori)?

  • DH thinks it's odd, but he didn't say anything until I asked him about it.

  • I've only met one nestie on accident, ran into her at Sam's, but if I was going to meet up with someone DH would just want it to be in a public place.  I wouldn't tell anyone else b/c they would probably think I was crazy too.  LOL!
  • LOL Lana you're so subtle

If my BFF still lived in Astoria, I'd be there in a heartbeat.  Last time I was there was when Cristo did The Gates exhibit in Central Park, we did Niagara... and my camera died on me, we lost every single photo. (not that I'm bitter)

BFF moved back home, and all my family lives west of me.  :-(

  • Well I was nervous...sorry girls:), but DH was fine with it.  He told me I was silly to be nervous, we were meeting in a big public place.  He meets people from his jeep forum all the time though.
