Parenting after a Loss

Please tell me your nap schedule...

I borrowed a book on it, but who has time to read anymore?

Please tell me what nap schedule works for you.  Thanks!

EDIT:  and how you implemented it too!! :)

Re: Please tell me your nap schedule...

  • I follow the HSH,HC method/theory that babies can only stay awake for 1-2 hours at this age. ?I try to put him down when I start seeing his tired cues (yawning, rubbing eyes, no longer wanting to engage and play, fussing). ?Because DS doesn't take long afternoon naps, this is our rough schedule.

    Wake between 6:30-7 (he STTN)

Down for a nap 90 minutes later. ?Usually sleeps until 10:30

    Nurses around 11am

Down for a nap around 12:00-12:30. ?Sleeps for 40-50 minutes

    Bottle around 2:00

Down for third nap around 3:00. ?Wakes after 40-50 minutes, but I can usually get him to go back to sleep until 4:30 or 5. ?Nurses as soon as he gets up from his nap. ?Then he's up until bedtime (7:30pm)?

  • At that age I did a HSHHC and EASY combo.  We'd do the eat, activity, sleep routine but like the pp said he could only stay awake for an hour or an hour and a half.  Also, at that time he only took 30-45 minute naps.  So everything had a pretty tight turn around time.  I just focused on the EASY routine and getting him down as soon as he seemed sleepy.  Also, around 2 months was when I started putting him down sleepy but awake.  Best move ever!
  • I don't really follow any particular method, but just like the pp I look for his sleepy cues and start putting him down for a nap.  He usually wakes up between 4 and 5:30 a.m. which works out for me since I get up at 5:15 a.m.  He eats and then plays for about 1.5 to 2 hrs.  Once he starts yawning and rubbing his eyes, I scoop him up and start the nap process.  His morning nap usually lasts 2 to 3 hours.  Then, he repeats the process.  His naps gets shorter as the day goes on which is fine as long as he gets a long nap in the morning and a long nap in the late afternoon (1 to 2 hrs).  We usually try to put him in bed between 8 and 9 p.m.  And he STTN.  For me, the key is to start trying to put him down for a nap before he gets too tired.  Once he's overly tired, he is a bear.  Both DH and I try to be consistent with the naps.  My MIL - well, that's another story.  All I can say is to find what works for your LO, and everything will work out.
  • I put DD down 2 hours after she woke up last.  I start changing her diaper, etc, about 15 minutes beforehand.  Works like a charm for us.  If you miss that 2 hour window, though, I've found that it's ANOTHER two hours before she'll go to sleep again.  No use trying to put her down in between.
