Grrrr.. I hate insurance and inept people

I am having my gallbladder removed on Monday.  My surgeon's office told me to have my bloodwork done 5 days in advance and be sure it is faxed to them and the surgery center.

I called the surgery center when I was on the way to the lab yesterday to get their fax number.  It took them four transfers to get me to the right person.  She told me not to go to the lab, the surgery center is a draw center for my insurance so I can come straight to them.

I go back to work and at the end of the day, go to the surgery center (almost half an hour away).  I am told when I get there that I need a referral from my general practitioner for them to draw the blood!  They called, doctor's office is closed and so is the lab.  So they tell me to go to the lab this morning and give me the fax number.

I go to the lab this morning and they tell me results take 3-4 days, there is absolutely no guarantee my results will be available for Monday, the tech there wouldn't risk it since technically they have to be done by tomorrow for Monday's surgery.

 Grrrr!  If they had let me go to the lab in the first place, I would have been able to do the rush order yesterday.   If they had told me I needed a referral, I could have had that yesterday.  So now I have to wait for the doc's office to open and beg them to write me a referral today then cancel my plans after work and go back out to the surgery center to have the blood drawn. I feel like I am going to look like a waited until the last minute when I call the doctor's office and beg them to do me a favor.  They aren't the nicest, I don't even know if they will do it.  I am so frustrated!!
