I'm starting to have anxiety about Mother's Day :/

Today J5 and I went to the mall for some frames that we'd ordered and I stopped to look at some birthstone jewelry.  That's what I told DH I wanted for Mother's Day, but I told him that like, 2 months ago.  It was all really picked over!  J5's birthstone is citrine which isn't that pretty to begin with and all the stuff that was left was ugly.  I'm afraid DH has forgotten and if I remind him he'll end up getting something ugly.  But I shouldn't have to remind him!  There's no evidence that he's done secret shopping.  Nothing mysterious from the checking account, no ATM withdrawls.  I have a feeling I might be getting gas station flowers and a card picked up Sunday morning.  Should I say something about how important this is to me?  I know he's not a mind-reader, but I HAVE already said something, you know?  I just don't want my first official Mother's Day to be thrown together at the last minute.  He doesn't have to do anything crazy expensive or perfect, but I do want him to put more thought into it besides waking up Sunday morning and going, "Crap! It's Mother's Day!"  Should I say something tonight or not?

i'm right there with you. and citrine is tough! i told dh i wanted a nice chair for my bday. and he was all about it. yup, have yet to see it. i said i wanted a composter for mother's day (you read that right!) and he said we could go to lowes and get the material on saturday. we'll see if that happens. i'm so negative about it. sigh. i do everything when it comes to that 'stuff' - i even got a mother's day card for his mom from him. i'm determined to teach my son better.

When a Mother's Day commercial came on the other night I told DD not to forget about it purposely while DH was in the room.  His response..."I'm not getting you anything for Mother's Day, you're not MY mother!"  I'm guessing Sunday will be just like any other day.

Hmmm. I would maybe just slip it in somehow, like, "Everyone was talking about Mother's Day on the Nest tonight. So-and-so (made up Nestie)'s husband totally forgot about it and she had to remind him. Can you beliebe that?"

I think it would be fine to say, "Remember when I said I wanted birthstone jewelry for mother's day? ?Should we pick something out together online?" ?I would just get it from Amazon. ?Topaz is also November, and is really pretty! ?This one is $29 and gorgeous!

I am trying not to expect much so that I won't be disappointed. DH is going to a bachelor party the night before so I guess I just dont want him to be hungover! Maybe you could just tell DH that Sunday is going to be special for you and you are looking forward to it.  Maybe he will get the hint?

I'm not sure DH even knows Mother's Day is Sunday...even though I've talked about it all week...

Wanna know what I got on my first mothers day!?!!? 

I ceramic pacifier that is supposed to hold a childs tooth??  and the book the secret life of bees?  WTF??  Oh and I received that at like eleven o'clock on mothers day night!  I dont think anyone can top that.  As for the other 4 mothers days I dont think dh has gotten me anything.  Ds has made things at school/preschool for me which I love the most!  Who knows what it will be this year.

I totally know the feeling.. both about the DH forgetting, and citrine.. DH's birthstone is citrine and i got a couples ring with our birthstones in it before we were married and I love the ring cuz its us, but I HATE his birthstone.. LOL.

I asked DH what he wanted for fathers day this year (I already kind of know what I'm getting him).. and he said.."I don't know. what do you want for mothers day?.." Umm. I already TOLD you what I wanted and mothers day is in 4 days.
