Handsprings in my tummy

Question here: I totally understand the typical nudge/kick sensation my baby exhibits on a pretty normal basis. She kicks once or twice then is quiet for about three to four minutes. This lasts for about 20 minutes, then it seems she goes to sleep.

But what about the handsprings it seems my daughter is doing lately? She starts on one side, handsprings the length of my abdomen, then turns around and heads back. This lasted for 7 minutes, I kid you not, NONSTOP. It doesn't hurt, but my goodness! Has anyone else had a similar experience with their pregnancy?

I haven't felt any Braxton-Hicks yet, but, again, this doesn't hurt. It's just unsettling, if anything! Big Smile

Thanks!

Re: Handsprings in my tummy

  • DS was super active inside (and still is).  I swear he did flips all the time.  I think it's fairly normal.  I'm not sure how you determine this, but they say you should call the doc if it seems like the baby is in distress - it doesn't sound like yours is.

The B-H aren't supposed to hurt.  Mine didn't.  They just felt like my abdominal muscles all cramped up (so they felt tight) and then released after a minute or two.

ETA:  Have fun with it!  The movement is the ONLY thing I miss about pregnancy.

  • LOL, DS (baby #3) literally used to body slam me. You could see my entire belly shift all the way to the left, then all the way to the right. It was kind of weird, I looked deformed. I can't say it really hurt either, just felt strange to have my belly shift like that so suddenly. I am a firm believer in it being a sign of their personalities, since they way all of my kiddos moved seem to match them. And #3 is by far the wildest of all, very rambuncious, stubborn and opinionated (hes almost 4 now). Thaks, I haven't thought about this in a while! :)
  • Mine little streches so big from my left to right that it does hurt me - I hold my breath until she is done. And she stays like that for about 2.5 minutes, then returns and starts kicking the top of my stomach. But she is active all the time. She only sleeps when I sleep except if I lay on my left side which is her side then she kicks pretty hard until I wake up and move.

DH thinks it's the weirdest thing and it freaks him out to see my stomach warp. He has a loud strong voice so the more he talks the more she moves. I thought he was scaring her at one point but now we just laugh.

Isn't incredible and amazing that we can carry a human inside of us.

Wow! Baby #3 sounds like just like mine and I imagine her to be very stubborn and opinionated - my body literally belongs to her and whatever makes her comfortable.

  • DS was super active... so yeah he did that too... my tummy will get so distorted my brother will get freaked out! He use to move from one side on the stomach to the other or flips or something but my tummy looked really funny when he did his thing~

enjoy! soon she will run out of room so it will feel much tighter and less crazy movements...

  • Thanks for all the comments! She's so funny sometimes ... At one point, she started jackhammering her feet, like she was throwing a temper tantrum. Heaven help us if her personality is anything like her movements! Smile

DH played sports in high school and college, specifically soccer and baseball. We say she's going to be a soccer player 'cause she kicks like Daddy!
