Mod Saves Squirrels, I Shoot Them

every time it rains (and that is a lot recently) a very large squirrel digs on our roof and gets into our attic.  i called a removal service in town but they charge a butt load of money to come out and another a$$ load to actually remove the rodent from your property.  my dad let me borrow his pellet gun to do my own "removal" process.  so far he hasn't been back, but it is just a matter of time.

and before you bleeding hearts get all up in arms about shooting at a squirrel let me say that the wildlife program in our city doesn't remove squirrels from residences.

Re: Mod Saves Squirrels, I Shoot Them

  • I don't know if a pellet gun is going to do it, I used to hunt and sometimes a .22 caliber rifle isn't enough to bring down a squirrel.

  • I used to work at a fruit stand and during the summer, I'd take the night shift which consisted of shooting the animals that tried to get the fruit.  It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.
  • i just want to scare the little butthole.
  • DH's dad has a 22 gauge rifle next to his recliner - he sits and watches the back deck for squirrels so he can shoot them.  Apparently they are ruining their bird feeders.

    I think he's just a hillbilly!

    Oooh, I feel your pain!

We've had a couple of squirrel infestations and the most recent one seriously took 6 months to fix. The squirrel removal guys kept putting live traps, with bait, and the baastard would take the bait without springing the trap every freaking time.  We tried mouse traps, a million other things.  Nothing worked.

Turns out they were flying squirrels. Much smaller than regular squirrels. So they put some rat-strength glue boards out and were able to remove 3 flying squirrels plus a carcass. Was I sad about the carcass?? Um, no.

But I hear one of the ones that lived the squirrel guys are keeping as a pet in a cage back at the office.  I picture a bunch of Dale Gribble types trying to train him to do nefarious tricks...

  • i ain't no hillbilly, y'all!

for real though, he is ruining our roof and i'm sure he's chewing on our wiring.  so either he electocutes himself and kills our wiring or i shoot him in the a$$.  it's a win win.

LMFAO! DH wishes I would allow that.

My brother and dad would hang out down by the tractor barn at my parents house and shoot gophers. they make my horses go lame with all the stupid holes they make in the horse pasture.

  • Poor little squirrel... Hasn't he seen your siggy pic?! LOL!
