Anyone have a side sleeper??

Kiddo seems to have developed a definite preference for sleeping on his side - must be all that lying down night nursing Embarrassed

He can roll from belly to back easily and can roll from back to side anyway - so nothing to worry about - right??

Re: Anyone have a side sleeper??

  • Mine has been sleeping on his side since he was born, pretty much. He would just turn himself over and sleep that way. At the 2 week appt., pedi said it was fine. He either sleeps on his side or his back now.

  • My little guy only sleeps on his side (unless being held) and will turn to his side when put down on his back. I hope it isn't an issue!!
  • my lo will only go down if she's on her side leaning against the crib side or bassinet.  She winds up on her back anyway from sliding down.

My LO is the same way--he starts out on his back but always ends up on his side.

  • DS has to sleep on his side now because of a flat spot on one side of his head (he prefers to lay on the right side of his head so we have to make him sleep on the left).  The pedi was the one who reccommended his side sleeping so it should be ok (not sure on the ages of everyone's dc's)  I would maybe switch sides once in a while to prevent a flat spot?
  • Liam has been sleeping on his side for at couple of months already. he started doing it when he started sucking his thumb- he lies on his left side so his thumb is easy access. lolllllll. he can roll just fine now, so i'm not worried. however, before he could roll i would try to move him back to his back during the night, and he'd always immediately roll to the side. funny guy.
  • when DD was born, the nurses always put her on her side..we just continued it on when we brought her home.

esp if we are rocking her and she falls asleep on one side, we'll just lay her down on that side.  i try to change sides over the course of the night when i wake up to feed/change her...makes it easier too since i only do one boob per feeding...

  • My little guy is a side sleeper too - has been since day one in the hospital and I can't get him to sleep any other way. I was worried initially since he can roll from back to belly but seems to have trouble rolling back. However, he quickly vocalizes when he needs assistance so I don't lose any sleep over it anymore.
