Time Outs

So now that my little DS is potty trained we have a new problem..he pees when on time out.. he starts crying when put on TO, then starts screaming I have to go pee pee, and he pees so we come and get  him.. MH tonight let him stay in his room with the pee and made him wait til TO was over.. then took him to the bathroom.. and made him help clean it..anything else we can do?  He did this on Sat., Mon. and today.. thanks!

Re: Time Outs

  • can't you bring him to pee and then resume TO after?   It's not like he's lying if he's actually peeing on himself.
  • My dd is 2 months older and she pees every time she is in time out, and I don't think it is to be naughty, I just think she loses control when she is upset. ?She is upset that she pees, too. ?We are trying to potty train now.

I definitely wouldn't punish him over it.?

  • I don't think he is peeing because he "has to go"... i think he is doing it spitefully.. my nephew used to pee on people when he would get pissed off..
  • My dd used to do this.  I would take her to the bathroom, she'd do her business and resume time out.  Once she found that she had to go back to time out, it faded away.

well, if you try it another way, you'll most likely get your answer. i.e. if you try letting him use the potty and then resuming TO and he still does the same thing, then maybe you are right.  My bet would be that he is peeing because he is upset about the TO and sort of loses control.  He's very young, and I just can't imagine letting him sit in his pee . . .

  • Thanks I will try it.. MH won't allow it, so I will do it by myself when I am home and do TOs..i can see if it works..
