the name Molly. My girlfriend and I were talking about this because she really wants to name her daughter Molly, but is unsure of the response she'd get.
It's a nice name. Doesn't wow me, but I certainly can't think of anyting "bad" about it. And I don't think it sounds like an old lady name whatsoever. If anything, I think it tends to be more youthful. I also like the spelling Mollie.
I like it. I think it's a name that works for a baby or an adult. In hs I had a friend named Molly. I think the worst nickname she got was being called Moll Flanders after the book title. But that's it. We were a nerdy crew.
It's good to know that people don't think it sounds too old-fashioned. Both our DH's say it reminds them of an old lady name, but they say that about Emma, Tess, Sarah and countless others. lol

Incidentally, this cracks me up - I didn't think anyone else knew of that book! I'm also part of a nerdy crew - I was an english major and am now an editor.
It's not a bad name just not something I would use.
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
Well Molly is my niece's name so I'm biased, but I think it's really pretty. Other than her, I know of two other Molly's in their late 20's/early 30's (they're both hairstylists at my old salon) so I think it's a name that can work for a little girl or a grown woman. I don't think it sounds "old lady" at all. Like the pp, I actually think that some of the other common names like Emma and Olivia sound more old fashioned.
I am biased because my name is Molly. But I really like it. I've never known anyone with my name, but it's common enough to not be mispronounced or anything. Plus it's not weird, which is a bonus. Nicknames growing up were been pretty innocuous - Molls, Mollers, Smolly...Yeah, not very creative either!
Re: What do you think about . . .
Yeah, that's what we were thinking too. The other thing she's concerned about is that it would sound too old-fashioned - like an old lady's name.

Nah, definitely not old lady-I just had a 5th grade student named Molly. It didn't sound old to me.
(Dare I say it, but I think names like Emma sound much older than
Molly. )?
Also, I have a family friend who spells it Mollie. So I think of it as great at any age.?

I like the name Molly. It's my kitty's name.
It's becoming popular where I live.
