2nd Trimester

If you could only listen to ONE song during labor:

something that makes you feel happy/relaxed/at ease/etc...

 What would it be?

Just was listening to some music and thought about that. I know some people wont give a crap about music once the pain really hits but I'm hoping to make a cd for early labor at least, to help me relax.

  • I have never considered this song for labor, but it makes me feel happy, relaxed and at ease:

    Eastmountainsouth - You Dance

  • "Snails" by the Format

    It's oh so chill.

  • Elijah Bossenbroek songs. If you click on my bio (link in siggy), there's a music video to the right if you want to hear one of his songs. It's just piano and he is AMAZING! I listened to it while in labor w/ DD and it helped keep me a little more relaxed :)

  • Maybe some Death Cab or Sigor Ros, something relaxing. I was wondering if it's normal for people to bring I-pods...because music is the only thing I feel like will keep me from killing someone during contractions.
  • Relaxing - Into the Mystic by Van Morrison

  • " Into the Mystic by Van Morrison"

That is one of my all time favorite songs! My wedding party danced to it at our reception. Love it.

Seriously, though, this is my favorite stair stepping song to listen to!

  • I was thinking about this yesterday when I was running and I think bleed it out by linkin park would do it for me.
  • Fields of Gold by Sting always relaxes me!

I'm going to make two cd's - one that's relaxing and calming, and one that's more upbeat. (Hmm...YMCA...going to add that one!). I don't know what type of music I'll be in the mood for, so I want to have a choice.

    ?lmao! ?so fitting!?

  • I wouldn't choose music. I would go with beach sounds like waves, etc. Yoga music maybe lol.
  • Ok so I'm sort of comparing labor to the most intense, most painful workout of my life.  Listening to music that gets my adrenaline going is the best way for me to maximize my workout and bear the pain.  So maybe Metallica's "Blackened" would be a good pick for me.
  • Norah Jones.  Perfect for relaxing.

Or Rob Zombie.  That would probably get me to push harder.

Or specific song?  I really like Sarah Maclaughlan's rendition of Blackbird from the Beatles.

  • ooh, that is hard!  Something at the end of the marathon playlist though....if it can get me through mile 25, it must be good enough for child birth.

  • Bob Marley-Redemption Song is my ultimate relaxation song.  It's what I always listened to before finals.  If I needed energy Rob Zombie "Never Gonna Stop"  (I bet those two artists have never been mentioned in the same thought before!!)

  • The Eagles: Waiting in the Weeds

  • I probably wouldn't want anything relaxing except maybe for the early parts of labor.  When actually pushing, I'd likely want something loud - like the kind of music I listen to while exercising to convince myself to keep going.  I'd probably pick something lame like Kanye - Stronger

"You Belong to Me" and You're So Vain by Carly Simon  I can imagine myself in labor singing both of these

That's funny. Probably also my fave relaxing and then not-so-relaxing artists.

  • I would try to find something relaxing, however, with my first I didn't give a crap about the music and just wanted the baby out.  I couldn't tell you what was playing during labor or delivery.  Hoping for a very short labor!
  • it would have to be a song by Bob Marley! Wink

  • One of 2 extremes, Toby Mac or Enya
  • If I wanted to relax I would be bringing RevelationSsong If I wanted to get motivated I would probably bring Andy Hunter's Sand Storm. Worship song versus techno. Interesting.
  • this post is cracking me up!  you girls are hilarious!  one of my good girlfriend's 2nd baby came out while Low was flying by Flo rider, she thought it was great!
  • Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles! Smile
  • I couldn't listen to just ONE song.  That  would get old and repetitive.
