Well, the day is 1/2 over and he has told me twice that he has to go on the potty ( I ask him every 1/2 hour too). He is in normal undies and has even been playing outside (I took the potty outside and he went in it out there too). I'm sooo proud of him. We will see how it goes when he has to go poo (that is what I'm mainly concerned about) - since he has not gone poo in the potty yet (just on the kitchen floor...lol).
What should I do for naptime? Sometimes he goes poop and pee during nap and sometimes nothing. We have some big boy undies that have a plastic lining on the outside (almost leak proof) and he is on a waterproof mattress already. Should I just put him in these for nap?
Re: Update on potty training (day 1 & have a question)- if interested
yes that or pull ups. Have him try to go before nap. I explained to DD why she was wearing pull ups for nap time and took them off as soon as she woke up and put her on the potty.
Good job so far!!!
I was going to suggest not putting the plastic on. I trained Jack for both night and day at the same time. Plastic or pullups might send the wrong message if you are trying to do it all at once.
Poop comes harder the kids. Especially to boys. We had a couple really hard days with the poop. I would suggest if your son poops in his pants, to get him on the toilet and pull down his underwear dumping the poop in the toilet as if he pooped in the toilet himself. It simulates him doing it so he can learn it's ok and how it's supposed to be. If you are close enough to your child during this process you might be able to catch a poop before or while it's happening. Watch for the signs.
You are doing great. Good luck!
