Trying to Get Pregnant

bummed

so i called the local ultrasound place (baby's first peak) & they wont do an ultrasound for gender determination until after 20 weeks. WTF is the point of that? Ok, now Im kinda peeved. No

Re: bummed

  • How is that the "first peek" if lot's of places do it before then! Sorry hon, anywhere else you can go?
  • Weird. Our place recommended 20 weeks or more but we were 18w5d.

Do they ask for any sort of documentation? Maybe you could just fib about how far along you are.

  • Well it might be a first peek for someone who doesn't have maternity coverage. :)

My doctor's office standard schedule includes the gender determination at the 16-wk u/s and my doctor has never been wrong. Never. He even says he'll pay for the re-decoration of the nursery if he's wrong. So I don't for a second believe that the boy and girl parts look "almost identical before 20 weeks." That is simply false information.  I think that they can look very similar on the screen if you are not getting a clear shot, but anatomically they look distinct.

4real--boo!! That sucks! I agree w/ pp--how does that count as a "first peek"?? Anywhere else in town that will do it earlier? Can you fudge your due date?

    Dear Bump: You suck.

In 2D it may be harder to tell but when they throw it into 3D there is no mistaking if it's a boy (I don't know what girl parts look like in 3D). Our little one had a very obvious twig and berries that could in no way be mistaken for a girl- we were 18w5d when we went.
