2nd Trimester

BH question...I am 20 weeks now...but

for about 4 weeks ago I have been feeling my stomach tighten up at leat twice a day, real hard and I thought at 16 weeks it was probably too soon for BHicks contraction. Last night my mother felt my stomach and she comment on how hard it felt and if it was bothering me and I told her that i feel it tigthen it up but then it goes away. Should I be worried? I have a dr's appt. today so I am planning on mentioning it.

Thanks

  • Mine does that all the time but no pain or cramping with it so I just assumed it wasn't BH.

  • You have BH throughout most of your pregnancy, most people just don't feel them until later.

If you are having several an hour, or they are really painful, I'd call.. otherwise just mention it at your next appt (that's one of the first questions from the nurse at our practice).?

Drink lots of water, and stay off your feet as much as you can and that should help minimize them. ?

  • I'm not a dr. but from what people post on here, it sounds pretty normal.

  • mention it. You want your Dr to be informed and they will let you know from there if its a concern.

  • I felt them early this prenancy too for the first time last night. I thought it was kind of early but I am learning it's not. If they are frequent it probably wouldn't hurt to mention it to your Dr.

I had similar "cramps" start right around 20 weeks. I mentioned it to our doula first and she recommended more fluids, as dehydration can cause muscle cramps. I talked to my doctor and she said as a PP said, as long as I don't have several in an hour that it is nothing to worry about but to try changing positions and upping my water intake.

  • The key with the BH is the consistency and frequency.  If you have 4 or more in an hour, you should call.  If they are increasing in frequency, then you should call too.  I've had BH since 12w, but I have an irritable uterus!  It's way fun.  Typically, BH are nothing to worry about.  Just keep yourself hydrated and try not to overdo!

  • Mine does that constantly, it's hard as a rock!!!  The only discomfort I have is the pressure of it being so tight.  I've just heard it's normal
