bleeding gums

I have had bleeding gums since I got pregnant but it is now getting worse.  I know it's caused b/c of the hormones softening your gum tissue, but has anyone else experienced this and how they dealt with it?

My gums started swelling in the 1st tri, I brushed and used mouthwash 3 times a day and flossed twice and that seemed to help. Have you tried a softer toothbrush? Gestational Gingivitis is pretty common during pregnancy it may be a good idea to see if you can get a dentist appt and see what they can do. There are some prescription mouthwashes that your dentist can give you that may help.

  • I use Reach Gentle Gum Care.  It looks like strands of string instead of the regular floss.  It's a little easier on the gums.

  • I am and it sucks. I've just been taking extra care of my teeth. And I started using mouth was along with flossing.?
  • I am clean teeth obsessed anyway and brush and floss 2x/day.  It's just getting worse.  I was just eating a plum and tasted blood and just bled like crazy, you would've thought someone cut my tongue off.  I have a call into my dentist, but was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and how they dealt with it.

  • I have always had bad gums (good teeth, bad gums) no matter what I do.  So when I went for my check up and teeth cleaning last month, my gums were the worst ever.  So to add to the flossing more, I also use biotene mouth wash which is a little more sensitive on your teeth and it was recommended by my dentist.  I also bought an electric toothbrush, and I just lightly with no pressure brush my gums everyday.  Seems to be helping :)

  • I had this, go to the dentist. They put me on a 6 week cleaning cycle until I have the baby. It has really helped!
