Anyone leave work on breaks/lunch to go to your baby's day care to BF? ?Just wondering if this is a practical idea, Would day cares be willing to let you do that? ?
I didn't with DS and won't with this one but the daycare we were at encouraged it. My old company had a few people leave on their breaks to go BF at that daycare.

Our daycare encourages parents to drop by any time and I think I'd be wary of one that didn't allow you to do so. I went to nurse DS during lunch until he was around 8 months or so, when he started to get upset when I left. He didn't usually want to nurse, though, so we'd just play instead. There was too much going on for him to relax and nurse. Other moms have had more success, though.
I did this until DS was almost a year old. I only did it over my lunch hour, I pumped at the other times. It was wonderful, and my daycare definitely encouraged parents to drop by any time!
I nursed DD every day on my lunch hour from the day she started daycare at 3 months until about 17 months. I only stopped because her schedule in the toddler room changed, and it just wasn't working well. She moved to the toddler room at 15 months, had lunch from 11-noon, and then I'd play with her for a bit and nurse her before her nap. All the other kids went down for nap right at noon, so if I couldn't get her to nurse to sleep, it was a big commotion when I left.

I nursed DD on my lunch break until around 7 months. If daycare was closer I would have done it longer.
I loved doing it!! It was so nice to see DD during the day, and I liked getting to know the teachers a little better. They didn't care that I was coming in to nurse DD. I figure it was nice for them because they didn't have to worry about feeding her at that time.
The only thing to consider is seperation anxiety when they are older. I wouldn't be able to do it now because DD gets upset when I leave. I would hate to make her go through that during the day.

Absolutely! I did this with #1 until she was 1 year. It was a Bright Horizons (national chain). It was great b/c I felt like I got to see more of my daughter, plus I REALLY got to know her care providers and get a better sense of what happens "behind closed doors" so to speak. Really helped give me a better comfort level.
As far as managing my time, I simply would heat up my lunch and work/eat afterwards. On occassion I would skip nursing to have lunch with co-workers and would simply have provided extra expressed BM for that particular day.
I did this with DS untill we pulled him out. I worked well. I missed him during the day and he was not good at taking bottles when I first went back to work. Also his daycare was right next door so I had time to eat and then go over and nurse within my lunch hour. I would not pick a daycare that woule not allow me to stop by anytime.
