AW: i got to breastfeed today!

we managed to tandem feed, and they both did really well! the LC thinks my babies are going to be great nursers when they come home it was also the most skin-to-skin contact that i've gotten with them, and i LOVED feeling them snuggle. my little girl likes to snuggle her face against me, my little boy likes to touch and grab with both hands.

I CAN'T WAIT TO BRING MY BABIES HOME! 

i had to LOL though... i don't know what others first NICU BF experience was like, but i definitely got manhandled. at one point i had a nurse on one side, grabbing one boob and one baby, the LC on the other side grabbing the other boob and the other baby, and DH behind me massaging both of my boobs trying to help encourage letdown. i told DH there are people who pay good money for that kind of action

Yeah, one of our more regular nurses would come by and poke my boob if Robbie got lazy and was looking around instead of nursing. She's poke at my nipple and say "you're supposed to be eating that, Mister!"

If you had any modesty before childbirth, it's gone after, huh?

definitely out the window, LOL. first it was all the vaginal u/s and cervix checks, now apparently my boobs are fair game for LCs and nurses. i really do appreciate all the help though, and i guess i'll do what it takes because i really want to BF!

Congratulations to you mommy!  Isn't that the best feeling?!  I remember thinking that there is finally something that I am able to do to take care of my baby!

And you are right - all modesty is out the window.  I remember sitting in my hospital room trying to pump to get my milk to come in as nurses, LC's, doctors and whoever else happened to be in the hallway were stopping in my room.  The funny thing is at that point you really don't care!

LMAO!!  Scarily enough, I know exactly what you're talking about and my NICU nurse's name was KEVIN!  Yep, we had a male NICU nurse but he was awesome.  I just wish the BF had gone as well for us as it did for you. 

This is an excellent sign that they are eating and BFing so well.  

They will be home soon!!

That is wonderful that your babies are nursing so well!  I had to LOL on the privacy thing. I too thought the vaginal u/s was invasive...then I gave birth in front of about 12 people (I wasn't related to) & learned to bf in a NICU full of people. Your sense of privacy will come back, promise!
