I started having more contractions again yesterday so we made the trip into l&d. Apparently I wasn't the only one who thought it would be a good time to go, they were swamped. I had a low fever when I arrived so they took some blood to check for an infection but all came back clear. They gave me a shot of Terb to stop the contractions but I needed a second one to finally get them stopped completely. Not sure what caused the contractions, just something that happens sometimes.
They gave me the steroid shot for the babies to help them develop in case they come earlier than hoped. Man does that burn like a SOB. I get to go back tonight to get my second dose. Can't wait for that encore but it makes me feel much better knowing the babies are getting all the help they can. My fever disappeared by the time they got the contractions stopped so that was good.
They also checked to see if I am dialated at all and I'm at a 2-3 but not really effaced so they were happy with that. Given that I've had a child before and I have an estimated 8.5 lbs of baby they said that was perfectly normal. So I'm just taking it easy and hangin out on the recliner trying to keep cooking these babies for at least another week and hopefully longer. I'm really pretty happy that these are the only incidents I have had so far. I think I'm pretty lucky. And at this point I don't really have any ambitions of removing myself from the recliner anyway. I practically need a forklift to get me moving so shouldn't have any problems continuing to take it easy.
Re: Trip #2 to L&D but all is well
Sorry you had to go through that but glad everything is okay. Just lay back and take it easy.
that sucks- glad the stopped it and you got the steriod shots- those help a lot.
my OB told me this week that as my uterus gets really big and full of baby it might start to think that it's time to deliver b/c the 2 together = the weight of one regular baby... so yeah- it's pretty common.
I hope you can keep on cookin em, too!
