I am so p*ssed and hopeless right now. I want to scream, cry and hit something (don't know what yet). We just got another weights update on our kids. Both lost weight again.
C, our 8 y.o. son, lost another 2 lbs (making 9lbs total weight loss over the last 9 months). He weighs 32lbs total.
D, our 5 y.o. daughter, lost 4lbs.
The O buildign they are in had an outbreak of worms that they are having trouble eradicating. They are transferring our two to another building b/c our son's weight loss is so bad. They hope transfer to another building will allow them to eradicate the worms and prevent reinfection.
D actually looks healthy. C looks skeletal. And we are still stuck in MOI (for 7 1/2 months) and saw two more families exit MOI after being in it only 2 months.
DH says we are goign to hire a swat team and just go get them ourselves. Ha. Ha. I'm sure invading another nation's sovereignty isn't the best solution, but it's tempting sometimes.
Re: How 'bout a Thursday VENT/RAGE post?
I was going to ask you if you had heard any more on their weight in my post below, but then I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate.
I'm so upset to hear this news! I can only imagine how angry, frustrated, helpless, and mad at the world you must feel. My heart is breaking for you, your husband, and your little ones. I wish there was something I could do to help.
Is there any way to find out why some families have been expedited, while your file seems to be stuck?
We hear some explanations, but I don't think it's the whole story. MOI changed requirements after we'd entered. This backlogged all files in MOI and it's true that no files were exiting MOI for a couple months, but we're past that now. All the requirements for our specific files have supposedly been met and we are just waiting (for the last 1-2 months) for the director of MOI to sign our exit papers (which are really authorization to print our kids' passports).
We get all updates through our agency. They get updates from our O's "file update specialist". We are not supposed to communicate directly with the O. But our SW at our agency is on vacation for the next week and I want answers so I am trying to circumvent the chain of command. I only have an email for the file update specialist and I have asked her to call me. I'm hopign someone else among the O families has her number and I've sent out requests for it. I've been patient long enough. I want to demand that someone march down to MOI and take a picture of our file just so I have confirmation it's not lost. Then I want them to get on their knees and BEG the MOI director to sign our exit docs. Then we're pretty much in the hands of USCIS, which we believe should not be a problem (knock on wood).
I am so upset for you, I can't even say. I hope and pray you get some forward movement soon. I'm angry for you.
I don't know how you're managing to stay here and sane. I would be out of my mind.
I had no idea your situation was so...well, shitty. I'm so sorry for you and so angry on your behalf.
And if you're husband needs volunteers for his SWAT team, sign me up.
There are timeline estimates, but they've been revised so many times since we started this process that they are essentially meaningless. Only 3-4 years ago kids were coming home after just 8 short months. Now I'd say the average is 24-30 months.
Ditto! no one will see us coming.... On a more serious note, I'm so mad for you and your family! I can't even imagine how frustrating and heartbreaking this is for you! I wish there were something that I could do to help!
