Babies: 0 - 3 Months

those that keep babies up...

from sleeping so they go to bed at a certain time..um..how do u do it? If I try to keep Olivia up from her evening nap, she screams bloody murder cause she's just so tired. There is no way to keep her up unless I'm willing to let her scream in my arms the entire time...and that's not fair to her either. Is there a trick or something?

Re: those that keep babies up...

  • The only trick I know is to not feed DD to extra full.  Sometimes I'll stop feeding her when she's no longer starving, but not so full that she goes into a coma.  Then she'll usually stay awake happily for a while.

When I want her to go to sleep, I just make her eat and eat until she passes out.

  • we take her fora  walk outside.  she's absolutely enamored by the outdoors, and will stop fussing/crying/screaming as soon as we step out.
  • Why do you want to keep her up?  My DD has always liked an early bedtime (7 or 7:30ish), and we recently started putting her down even earlier.  She's taking better naps and still waking up at the same time each morning.  DD gets mad if we don't start the bedtime routine by 6:30 and have her in bed by 7.
