Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I would love for DS to not choke when i nurse him...

because it is both sad and quite messy - we both end up covered in breast milk!

Stupid forceful letdown!

  • mine has just recently started to slow down, there's hope.  i still have bad days.  burp clothes are your friends.  i always have one under my boob and one at the ready for when he pulls off and the fire hose is released!

  • Have you tried:

Pumping through the letdown and then nursing

    Switching positions

hand expressing when you feel the letdown

I need to try the first, the other two help a little.

I'm just so lazy that cleaning the pump parts seems like so much work!

  • It gets better.  It was a struggle for us sometimes between 1-2 months.  By 3 months he was much, much better pretty much all the time.  Now he just pulls off and giggles while milk sprays him in the face!
  • I hear you.  Jack actually screams when he eats because the milk is coming so fast.

    Signed,

new mom with milk all over her glasses from where DS just spit it after choking.

  • Glad to know I'm not the only one with a DC that gets covered in milk during feedings, lol. ?I agree burp clothes are your friends. ?I have to cover the side she's not eating from or it starts squirting, and have one for when she pulls off and it starts spraying. ?DH is amazed by this trick, lol.
