There is a highly suspected case of swine flu in Calgary and the person was working in Bankers hall. If any of you are in that area of Down town you may want to avoid going in to Bankers hall for lunch any time soon. And bring lots of hand sanitizer with you in your purse as I would hate to see any one of your little ones sick too.

I got a message from one of my old co workers as she is friends with the man they sent home I'm not one of those "buy a swine flu prevention kit" nutbars (non -BSC here) but thought it would be a good preventative gesture ?

Not to fear monger...I had coffee with a GF today who is a nurse at an urgent care centre here in Calgary.  She said there are WAY more cases than the 2 that the media talks about.  She said the entire waiting room were all suspected cases.  Their cleaning staff have been instructed to all wear the masks on the admitting floor and other things.

She said, don't be paranoid or anything but do take it seriously and we should all consider making sure your pantry is stocked up in case it does get more serious.  and that being diligent about hand washing etc is the best prevention at this point. 

Also my Mom works in Bankers Hall and has been sick for the last few days and has been in contact with her boss who has told her not to come back until at least Monday.  We don't think she has it or anything it's more of a measure to control the paranoia and finger pointing.

yikes, thanks for the info re. Bankers hall.  Luckily we hardly ever make it downtown these days.  Scary stuff for sure that it is in Calgary already.

We are pretty bummed about the whole swine flu thing as we had a vacation to Cabo booked for May which is obviously cancelled now ((

Nope, we out right cancelled & thankfully got all our money back. Who knows when this craziness will go away.  We are probably just going to go somewhere else in Sept/Oct.  It totally sucks cause that was suppose to be my last vacay before I go back to work June 1
