How did you guys do 'it'?

Hi guys,

 

My DH and I have been TTC for a few months now and nothing's happening.  I'm starting to feel a little discouraged  & sometimes I feel like we're doing 'it' wrong.  So I'd like to know how you & your DH did the "deed" if you have a planned pregnancy. 

You can be as detailed as you want but I'm looking for every other day for 2 weeks starting on Cycle Day 10 or Every day for 1 week starting on Cycle day 12...  things like that.

We got drunk and had sex... I've heard that being a little tipsy helps out because you are more relaxed.  Try not to turn sex into a chore when ttc... it will make your life miserable.

I believe it was 13 times in 15 days.  

Basically we had sex as long as I had the appearance of fertility until my temps confirmed ovulation.  If you don't chart, you might want to consider doing that, or at least using OPK's to make sure are timing sex appropriately.  Sex everyday from cd10 to cd 17 won't do much good if you ovulate on cd23.

We referred to "it" in grown up terms such as sex and that is how I got pregnant for sure.

 Seriously though----I have not heard that one position is better than another for getting pregnant--when you hear things like that it is an old wives tale.  I am pretty sure we got pregnant on our ottoman stool in the living room!

Do you chart?  We did it the night I ovulated and it worked.  Every time I saw ewcm we had sex but every time I had it I didn't actually ovulate.  I was temping so I knew when I really did ovulate.  If I had listened to my ob's advice, sex every other day from cycle day 10-20, we may have missed our chance since I ovulated on day 22.  Good luck!

We "did it" every other day from end of AF to beginning.  Sometimes everyday.

Oh also we only had sex one time during what FF labeled as my fertile window on the cycle we got pregnant (DH was out of town). So I think it is true--it just takes once!

The night we conceived was a night i just wasn't in the mood... so it was the pretty boring missionay style. But after DH was "finished" i threw my leg and butt in the air - not to let anything run out - as a joke....but it seemed to work. lol

with our first, It was missionary and I had a few pillows propping my pelvis up... I also slept that way and didnt think twice about ttc- I found the more I thought and stressed about it the longer it took to get pg.

now with this one it was a complete surprise-

I have been so stressed with planning the wedding and everytime we did have sex I thought about being pregnant at the wedding and it stressed me out more-

Well one night in march, DH was my stress reliever and I didnt put more thought into it and now we have number 2 on the way (for of course the wedding! haha)

But the biggest secret is thinking about it. the more you let it discourage you, the longer it will. Make sex fun again and just relax- and after you have sex dont think about it either. not one bit- its worked for me twice--

Unprotected sex--that was it for #1 & #3...we didn't try & time it or anything.  I think for #1 I may have kept my hips elevated after for the last month or 2.  It took 6mo (w/ one miscarriage in there) for #1 & we were not "trying" at all for #3.  For #2 we just had sex & I got annoyed it was taking so long (over a year) & one month we had sex every single freaking day & we decided to move out of state...that worked--LOL! )  Oh & I have totally wacky irregular cycles so charting would have helped.  When I say we weren't trying for #3...is because I apparently ovulated on cycle day 34 or something...way later than is in the "normal" range for me.

I can tell you that we had months where we have sex EVERY stinkin' day and then months where we tried every other, every two days, on my head, legs up...you name it, I did it.  There is not a secret "recipe" to getting KU.  You just need to be informed on your cycle and when you are fertile and then get it on around those days.  GL

I have a CBEFM.  Once the reading was 'high', we aimed for sex every two days (but didn't always happen).

Then, the day of the 'peak' reading, sex that night and the next night.

One of the best investments I ever made was this monitor.

Depending on your cycle, starting on day 10 can be a waste of time if you don't ovulate until day 22.  Do you have any idea when you ovulate?

I charted my ovulation by reading Taking Charge of your Fertility and then using fertilityfriend.com's online charting tool.

Then we went to a hillbilly bar, got bombed on longnecks, and did "it", as you call it.  And by "it", I mean wild drunken sex.

It can take the average couple up to a year to conceive, so if you have a regular cycle I would not be concerned yet...

How I did it: In an operating room and a lab and my husband shooting into a cup... BUT that was after a year plus of trying and a diagnosis of diminshed ovarian reserve.

My suggestion to you if you are concerned is to start using OPKs or Charting to see if you are ovulating and timing sex around ovulation. Good luck

try doing it really early in the morning. you are most relaxed then.  that's how it happened to us (it was his early morning birthday present) .. and of course make sure you are ovulating at that time.

I have a link to my chart in my signature. We had sex two days before ovulation when I had EWCM and then the day after ovulation. I honestly thought our timing this month was pretty bad since DH was working long hours during my fertile period, but it must not have been that bad.

All of my kids have been concieved when we stopped trying too hard.  I get too obsessed about it.  This baby was concieved when we had sex one night, very, very early in my cycle.  We both figured it was too early for me to get pregnant, but I must have O'd really early.   It was a happy "oops."

We have been trying for 2 years, i had 2 surgerys to remove endometriosis, i took Clomid and Metformin, i stopped drinking, ate really carefully and made sure i didn't do anything that would cause issues. I took my temperature EVERY morning and charted BBT, cervical discharges and my feelings, we had sex every other day from day 10 until after ovualtion, and i pissed on sticks every morning, even went to see a fertility specialist, but still nothing!

So i went scuba diving, ate food off the street vendors in Mexico, got completely pissed (sorry drunk) for well over a week, had sex off schedual and ta da now i am 5ish weeks pregnant!

I guess it's true what they say, you just need to relax about the whole thing, and when the time is right it'll happen!

The guys at my office all raved about clearblue fertility sticks.  So i went out and bought one...it was $150 bux for the machine, and 50 for the sticks...but so worth it.  We got pregnant the second month of trying.  Nailed it to the day b/c my husband was gone for business and the machine told me i was ovulating the day he got back.  Had sex once, and the rest is history.  I will always use this machine and tell all my sisters and friends to use it...it def works and makes life so much easier!

I was using the clearblue easy fertility monitor to tell when NOT to have sex, I had to go off the pill for health reasons. ?But it works for when you should! ?We were fooling around without protection, I was on top, but they say thats a hard position to get KU in. ?Afterwards I thought, hmmm I think we may have just got preg. ?and sure enough!!!! ?

You may be having sex too often!!! ?the supply of sperm can be depleted. ?By the way if you have only been trying for a few months keep trying. ?Thats not terribly long! ?GL?

We started going at it 8 days after my period had started, and "practiced" once a day at night, sometimes in the morning as well depending on how frisky we felt.

Just remember... Check your cervical mucous, that seemed to help us out the most, deeper penetration when he reaches ejaculation can help too. For some it's hard to tell when you are ovulating!

Honestly... we TTC for 22 months with no success... did several rounds of clomid and had a savings account set up to start IVF.  We were very discouraged and starting to think it wasn't going to happen, and we were fighting a lot because of it.  We went on a much needed vacation in May of 08 to Mexico, and had a BLAST and reconnected.

Ended up getting pregnant on our 3 year wedding anniversary, June 26 in a movie theater. Yep.

It will happen when it's supposed to. Best of luck, and try not to get discouraged!!

We did it every other day the day AF left, we did that for about 4 1/2 weeks until I get a yeast infection (which I know believe was a symptom of pregnancy)

We had tried off & on for 2 years. Then last month we had some wine, didn't really think about it, got frisky and now I'm pregnant. Just tested yesterday btw. before that, it was like we HAD to do it at certain times. Last month, i just didn't think about it.

DH and I went in for a pre-conception appointment and my doctor actually told us NOT to chart for the first 6 months.  She thinks it makes the whole act too clinical and puts to much pressure on perfect timing.  Just her opinion, of course.  Obviously a lot of the girls on here have had great success with charting.

So despite my normal personality to try to control everything, I took my doctor's advice.  We had sex every other day starting with day 10 and going 2 days past when the EWCM stopped.  We're lucky.  It worked for us first month . . .

We did it the old fashioned way...every single day! I put my legs up after, instead of rushing to the bathroom to get cleaned up. We got pregnant on the first try! GL
