Tell me about your 3 row car...

that's not a full-size SUV or traditional mini-van.

I'm interested if there are other options like the new Mazda 5, which is like a big station wagon/mini-minivan with a flip down 3rd row.

Thanks!

Re: Tell me about your 3 row car...

  • I just looked at the Saturn Outlook a few weekends ago. I really liked it. The 3rd row is an actual real full row, not little flip-up seats only good for kids.
  • Hmm, I'm not sure if mine qualifies as what you're looking for but we have a Mazda CX-9 which is a crossover SUV.  It drives like a car, not a truck.  Its not huge and boxy like a Yukon or anything and to me, doesn't feel all that big to drive.  But it offers TONS of space both for seating and cargo.

I got it last Feb and I have nothing but good things to say about it.  Its won tons of awards as well.

  • I'm not sure if you'd consider this a full size SUV, but we just got a Toyota Highlander and LOVE it!  It has an optional 3rd row, which folds down and a removable middle seat in the second row so if you have 2 carseats on either side of the second row, you can still access the 3rd row.  It drives like a car and is so comfy.  GL!
  • I love my Mazda 5.  I've had it for tyo years now.  It drives like a car, is fairly fuel efficient, and is easy to parallel park.

    The downsides to it:

when you use the 3rd row (I always do b/c I have 4 carseats in my car) you can only fit an umbrella stroller in the back (I've tried everything else!)

no auto doors (at least they didn't offer it when I bought mine)

ETA: and it isn't the best in snow.  I wouldn't say it is bad, but it isn't great.  And the tires were pricey to replace (I think that might be a Mazda thing).

    Ditto this.  LOVE our Highlander!

It is actually listed as a wagon on my registration and insurance.

  • We have a Ford Taurus X.  I love it.  I like the fact that it has air bags all the way to the 3rd row (only 8-9 2008 had that).  It also has a full latch in one 3rd row seat.  I can fit a rear facing infant car seat and an adult in the 3 rd row which is nice (and the adult still has some leg room).
