Thanks in advance for any insight...
Is anyone taking allergy meds (Claritin, Zyrtec, etc) and if so, has it affected your supply?
How much do you think your LO is eating per feeding (DD is 11 weeks and has recently dropped two night time feedings)? She took about 6 ounces of BM in a bottle for my Mom yesterday. I am planning to send her to daycare with bottles in a few weeks and wonder how much I should send.
About those two dropped feedings - DD is on a 3 - 3 1/2 hour schedule during the day with her las feeding about 730 pm. She sleeps from about 9 PM to 5 AM without eating. We're down to 5 feedings during the day - does that sound right?
If you have the PIS - have you ever had milk go through the tubing? I tried to clean the tubes and behind the panel and hope it's OK...
Sorry for the many questions, I don't post here a lot and needed some insight! Thanks girls!
Re: Many Q's RE: BF
Hi there! ?I only have an answer to your first question... ?Per kellymom.com, both are safe during BF. ?If it is Claritin-D, then the decongestant might affect supply some, but I don't know how much. ?Here's the link for what I am referencing. ?:) ?Good luck getting your other answers! ?https://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/cold-remedy.html#antihistamines

I just went back to work. DS is taking 4 oz per feeding. He is feeding between 6 and 7 times in 24 hours. Here is an excellent link on kelly mom about the amount your child will need https://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/milkcalc.html
Based on what you wrote...the calculator on this website says your child should need around 5 oz per feeding. This is the average. I would send a bit extra separate in case she needs more and adjust after the first week.
If your DD was not getting enough she would let you know.
I have a PIS and milk has been going through the tubes. I have taken care of it just like you.
Hope this helps and GL going back to work!
I would start out with 5 oz and see if she is satisfied. I have read that babies will feed from a bottle more than they need if it is offered in the bottle. If after five oz she seems like she needs more then give another oz.
I can answer a few of your q's.
I take Claritin and my supply seems fine.
At that age my dd would take 5 oz. bottles the few times my mum or mil watched her. Sometimes she would only take 3 oz. I'm an event planner so I only had a few days every few weeks where I had to leave her.
She was also eating 5x/day at that age (and still is) and has been gaining well. I don't see a problem with that.
HTH!
