edit posts?

Is there a reason i notice a lot of people dot go back and edit their posts? They usually just post another one or comment on their mistake.

Good question!  I'm not sure either.  Maybe it's system issues.  I know sometimes the system won't allow you do delete your posts (like if you do a dup post) but I have never had a problem editing a post (like for spelling errors, etc).
