2nd Trimester

Alright, come on ladies...

I know you're here... not sure what else you may be doing... but we gotta get something started here. FI is playing some baseball game that he rented earlier, the kitten is running around like a crazy person, and I need some chit chattin!

Re: Alright, come on ladies...

  • DH is sitting here watching the blazer game with few friends and I just finished putting a few things away in the nursery!

  • I really can't wait to get started on my nursery... I have so many things already that I want to do... i'm so excited!
  • Loading the player...
  • I'm waiting for DH to come home from work.

How are you ladies doing your nurseries?  I have the bottom of mine painted dark eggplant, the top is wide white and pale silver stripes.  I have black furniture, but no fabric yet for curtains/rocking chair (which was my Great Grandfathers, and my Mom is recovering it).  I'm trying to find plain white crib bedding but can't find anything plain enough that is affordable.

  • My mom and I are starting on the nursery next week. We are tearing up the carpet, underneath is really great hardwood flooring. I'm painting the walls a light blue, with one wall being a darker navy. I'm putting black and white photos of old Pittsburgh sports on the walls, Max's name painted in silver, dark red bedding with football and hockey pillows that I'm making. I'm also re-doing my grandfather's old rocking chair to put in the nursery to add a special touch.

Oh, right! I remember reading about your nursery ideas in previous posts.  I love the theme, it's going to look really good!  That will be something that will last awhile.  I am hoping that mine doesn't need to be painted again for at least 5 years!

  • As you can tell from my siggy walls are pink and green stripes, but the bottom half of walls are green and there is a chair rail. White crib and changing table and I have black picture frames around the room as well as the dream qoute above crib. I am lloking for some kind of wall decal to go above changing table that is bi and black!!

I love that picture in your siggy... those colors are really cute!

Although, they were the colors of our rival sorority in college... LOL... that's all I think of when I see it. Pathetic, I know. I need to get new memories.

I saw your picture after I posted - duh! It looks great!  I love the white against the striped walls.  I wish I could have a bunch of different nurseries to decorate...I have so many ideas!

Have you looked on places like etsy.com? Maybe someone can make it for you for a reasonable price.

OH! Good idea!!  I usually get overwhelmed when I'm on etsy, but I love the stuff on there. I'm going to check that out for sure, thanks!!

  • The eggplant and silver scheme sounds amazing!

speaking of nurseries--- is a chair rail hard to put up? I want to put one up in ours but truly have no idea about things like chair rails. We moved into a new build house in november so we haven't really had much house-y stuff to do.

also...i love the letters for the baby names on the nursery wall...is that a girl thing or can I put them up in a boy nursery, too?

I'm putting Max's name in wooden letters in his room. I'm painting them a metallic silver (I think). Having the name in the room makes it more personalized, at least IMO.

We are putting a chair rail up to separate the eggplant from the stripes (well, DH is doing it - I'll just watch!).  I think it should be fairly easy...we are using trim from Home Depot and just glueing it on.  The tricky part might be the corners, but you can get those saw guide things (it's a plastic box type thing - no idea what they are called!) that make it easy to do angles/corners.

I also considered doing letters in black on our walls but the decal kind, in scroll letters.  I'm still undecided, but I agree it does personalize it more.

  • Excellent. I love the letters but had mostly been seeing them for girls rooms. I cannot wait to get started on the room since we had our ultrasound, but first I guess we have to get it emptied out....Ick!
