any and all of the "den" names: Brayden, Hayden, etc..

JOSHUA. I love this name honestly, and I think it is classic and NOT overdone, but we aren't using it because there are just so many of them everywhere.
I'm ok with overdone names...I was a Jessica of the 80's and didn't mind having a couple of other Jessica's in my grade. I think names can be too out there and sound made up. I'd rather have a name that everyone can pronounce rather than a unique name.
We're using Brady but in my defense- it's my maiden name!
I still like the two names and had them on my list if we had a boy. I love the naming after your maiden name. My cousin named her son Carter after her maiden name (Cart) and I love it....even though Carter is really popular too...I still love the name and why they used the name.
Really? I fell in love with it because I didn't know or know of ANY Landons! It was way off my radar- I saw it on Nymbler a couple months ago and felt like I'd barely heard it before then.
Obviously, this all just depends on where you are.
I have nephews named Jackson and Ayden....really overused here. I also have a Jordan and Cameron which are also really popular. I really didn't want an overused name for our baby, which is why her name is Magnolia!!!

This...I always swore I would give my kids names from the most popular lists since I grew up with an incredibly "unique" name (Dixie). I longed for an "overdone" name! So DS is Caden Reese (my maiden name was Reeson so that's why we used Reese). We haven't talked about names for this one yet but will use the other ones we picked out for DS (Gavin for a boy or Caitlin or Mackenzie for a girl).

We are naming our son Jackson. I don't think the name is overdone, but it has gotten more popular than I would like. However, my husband and I have loved the name for years so we are not going to change our minds because of a spike in popularity. I do think that geography plays a big role. Last time I checked, Jackson was # 74 for boys names in California, but # 4 in a southern state (Alabama I think).
Just out of curiosity, what are you basing the overdone/popularity comment on - the number of children you know with these names or the most recent lists of babies with these names in your state, or what?
I ask because I don't know a single baby with the names most of you guys have mentioned. I am sure they are on the top 25 on most charts online and with the Social Security's website though.

I think most people are basing it off of their own basic opinions AND experiences from their location, children they know and name lists.

DH and I are screwed then b/c we are not around enough children to have any real "experience"! I need an Atlanta preschool teacher or daycare employee to give me the scoop on baby names!!

I have only heard Brady as a first name one time. I like it!
It's probably a regional thing

Oh well, my DS is still going to be Jackson.

hahaha... I have an Aiden and a Ethan as nephews!
Isaac is also over done around here, I have a nephew named Isaac and can name at least 3 more in his age range.
Our town has an overun of Kayden and kind of off the wall spellings of otherwise common names.
Landon is our choice for a boy, but I don't know anyone in our area with it!
