I wasn't sure if we were going to do this or not. What are some of the things you are hoping for? I know most of you will say "we are just glad we're having a baby" but for those who want something, what do you want? I think I'm going to ask for a new camera. I want a nicer camera so I can take pics of the baby. I'm looking into the Nikon D40
Re: Ok, so who is doing "push presents"
im also drooling over a nikon d40 (or 60?) but i think i want to get that before the big day.
i don't think we are doing push presents. i haven't said anything to dh and won't, so if he does anything, it will be all on his own. hence, i'm not holding my breath. but no worries -- i don't need anything.
I'm not sure if this counts, but DH and I were talking the other day and I mentioned how I always wanted a pair of Raw Denim jeans but had never bought them because they were pricey. He stepped right up and said he would buy me a pair when the baby is born so that I can have some nice new jeans to look forward to, post-maternity clothes once I shed the baby weight. I thought it would be a great motivator to get back in shape. I may even hang them in front of the treadmill!
I think a camera is a great idea. I've been drooling over a Nikon D60 for about 2 years. We don't have a video camera which I think is a must for a new baby! I've got to have something to torture this kid with when they bring their first date home!

I'm out of this group, I just don't get the "push present" thing. Nothing against people that do though.
A camera is a good thing to get anyway, DH went out two weeks after we found out we were pregnant and got me a DSLR (maybe that's why I don't get the push present, my DH is pretty awesome).
I've heard diamonds are nice to ask for too though
ditto.
Ok I normally roll my eyes at push presents (while secretly hoping that DH gets me a little something- I know, it's pathetic), but a camera makes sense! That's not something just for you, it's something the whole family can use! It's more of a big purchase for the family than a "good job pushing the baby out your vag" present! hehe
On another note, I have the Nikon D60 and loooooooooooooove it. I have some pics in my blog if anyone's interesting. You have to scroll back a few pages of pointless pregnant ramblings to get to the days when I actually had time to take pictures, but they're there!

Is it hard to use? I'm not big into photography but I do think a nice camera is something every parent should have.
That's a really sweet idea!
this isn't so much a gift for me but for both of us. My hobby is photography and i take childrens photos part time (hopefully one day full time).
Not at all! DH is all into the special settings and such but I am just a point and shoot girl and I think the pictures look wonderful. It's very user friendly.
