Hey girl! I just saw your reply to my Lovenox/Heparin post from last week. I started the Heparin last night - I waited until Sunday so I wouldn't have to set my alarm on one of my last peaceful weekends just to get up and give myself a shot, ha! Anyway, believe or not, so far so good. I should be knocking on wood but the two shots I've now done haven't hurt a BIT. I mean to the point that I felt nothing, where even with the Lovenox I would almost always feel a little twinge as the med went in. I still can't believe it but I have to assume that after all of these months of practice, our skin has just toughened up to this kind of thing. I'm so relieved; I thought for sure the remaning time before the baby's born would be so miserable by switching to Heparin. Can't say I love finding the time in the morning to do another shot though, but if that's the worst of it then I'll survive.
Question for you - have you been doing all of your shots in your belly? I have...I was told in the early days that we have the option of the outer leg and outer arm too, but man did those hurt so I've just always alternated sides on my belly. I'm interested to know what other docs say to people about that.
So anyway, no worries for you as far as the switch - it's all good! I'll let you know how the delivery goes too, of course.
Re: **Dontblink**
Hi!
Thanks for the info. Glad to hear that it isn't bad. I go to the hematologist on the 5th and should get my info then.
I do the shots in my belly. I was never told arm or leg. They told me I could do my sides...tried that and it really hurt a lot so I went back to the belly. I think they hurt more now that my belly is so hard. When I had more fat to grab and was fluffier it was easier I think.
Of course I am willing to do whatever it takes to have this healthy baby. What time do you do you shots? I do lovenox now at 9pm. I am thinking it will be 9pm and 9am now...maybe even change it to 10 in case I have a day when I can sleep in.
Are you scheduled for an induction or just letting nature take its course? GL and keep me posted! You are so close!
Yep, nothing to worry about at all. I think the shots in general are such a pregnancy bummer, no matter where you do them. I know they're making such a huge difference, but I can't help but be jealous of the people that don't have to do anything like it.
I'm doing my shots around 6:30pm and 6:30am, so that I don't have to worry about the morning one at work. I was doing Lovenox at all hours...I guess I got pretty comfortable with it but I know how important it is to stay on schedule when you're doing the twice a day thing. I'm all about sleeping in too...if I haven't had this baby this weekend or next I'm really going to hate getting up to give myself a shot! Do you have to go back on them after the baby? I do for 6 weeks. Whichever "brand" I end up doing, I'm going to try to go back to once a day so I don't have to mess with it in the mornings while trying to learn how to be a new mom. Once a day is enough!
Right now I'm letting nature take it's course, but last week I measured at 39 weeks so who knows what will happen! I get told repeatedly that "That's a big baby in there!" so as much as I hope to make it to my due date (5/11) and go naturally, I'm not holding my breath.
