Do you have a glass top stove?

If so, would you ever cook/heat something up directly on the burner?  Because my MIL does it.  And it drives me insane. 

I came home from work Friday and the entire stovetop was oily, and I saw the olive oil sitting there.  I think she literally poured the oil on the burner to heat something up.  And then didn't even clean it up!

Am I crazy in that I get so irritated about it?

It's because of things like that, that we have to have idiot warnings plastered all over everything - like caution coffee is hot.

Wait, WHAT?  She put food directly on the stove-not in a pan?  That is insane and I'm so weird about things in my kitchen I would have gone apeshit on her.  That's messed up.

It never occurred to me to do that.  I'm sorry - that's gross and must have been a pain to clean up.

Yeah she heats things up on the stove w/o a pan.  She's crazy!!  Then if either I tell her or make DH tell her not to do that (among other things) she thinks I'm just overly picky or picking on her.  Sweet mercy.

that's yucky. ?I have a cook top and would never in a bajillion years do that!!

that is disgusting!  DH says that will eventually ruin the glass.  (he fixes appliences for a living)
