Parenting after a Loss

Can you put warmed BM back in the fridge?

Ok, I know this is probably a totally dumb question, but can you put warmed BM back in the fridge to use later? I know you can't refreeze BM, but can you save what DC doesn't eat for a later feeding? I hate to waste any and throw away what DS doesn't eat! TIA!

Re: Can you put warmed BM back in the fridge?

  • Sadly, no. I know, its a horrid waste. I've learned to only heat up a small amount at a time for that reason. Sucks, I know.
  • Loading the player...
  • If DH knows that she's going to eat again soon (he gives her bottles when I'm at work), he'll leave it out at room temperature and try to give it to her that way the next time.  But, sadly, my baby is a temperature diva and room temp usually isn't warm enough for her, and it gets dumped down the drain most of the time!  Sad
  • It can sit at room temperature for 8 hours and be rewarmed.
You can re-warm it one time.

Honestly, I exclusively pump and I make a day's bottles at a time (so I pump for a day, then fill bottles for the next day) and I sort of luke warm everything when I make bottles just to get the fats to melt.. so every single one of Robbie's bottles has been warmed twice.

    don't waste the good stuff!

  • You can if you use it at the next feeding, but not longer than that.
