O lastname: all H and B names out?

Would you use a H or B name if your last name started with an O?

Part of me thinks no way I shouldn't do that to my child, the other part thinks do people really notice initials that much anyway?

I don't think there is a problem with B or H with last name O. I know someone who has the initals V.A.G. THAT is terrible.

IMO- they are out! My brother's initals are PMS and it has always given him trouble. Sorry! I guess people do notice initial when they are funny/ bad.

Lyssapee- V.A.G- even worse than PMS! And I LOVE MAX, funny and cute.

If it is a boy, I think either are fine. I don't think I'd want HO for a girl though.

VAG is hilarious! I really really want a H name if we have another girl. Uhhh! This is all DH's fault!

i agree. my friend is pms but since he's a guy people just acted like it was funny, probably wouldn't be if he had been a girl.

I really, really wanted to name my son after my dad (he died while I was pregnant). As he was dying, I told him- "don't you know if you die I will have to give my son the initials BO!!" It actually took a very serious moment and made us all laugh. I was bothered by the fact that he might be teased on the playground but the bottom line was that it was more important to me to honor my dad.

So my answer to you is that I wouldn't do it on purpose for fun and it's definitley something to think about but I wouldn't let it stop you from giving a child a name that means something to you.
